The mentoring programme of the Péter Eötvös Contemporary Music Fundation enables composers and conductors to hone their skills. The participants work for a year with guidance from Péter Eötvös and Gergely Vajda. The mentoring programme also includes masterclasses by world-famous composers: last year’s tutors were Kaija Saariaho, Heinz Holliger and Hanspeter Kyburz, and for 2020, George Benjamin, one of today’s most important British composers.
The programme of the end-of-course concert includes the Hungarian premiere of Benjamin’s Three Inventions (1995), and works the mentored composers wrote during the programme, which employ the instrumentation of Béla Bartók’s Divertimento.
This concert of the CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival is presented by Müpa Budapest as a joint event with Budapest Music Center and Péter Eötvös Contemporary Music Foundation.
