GoetheJazz│qÖÖlp (F/D)
- Theo Ceccaldi - violin
- Valentin Ceccaldi - cello
- Ronny Graupe - guitar
- Christian Lillinger - drums
qÖÖlp is the encounter of two worlds: the hyperactive Ceccaldi brothers from Orléans meet the no less turbulent duo Graupe & Lillinger from Berlin. The result is just as energetic as finely chiselled. Different forms mingle, layered on each other, to create an endlessly moving collective order driven by a constant desire for confrontation.
The quartet performed for the first time at the 10th Jazzdor Berlin Festival in 2016 where they earned tremendous success. “An hour of pure invention, of insane mastery, of free spirit. An hour of intense physical commitment of the musicians ... One vibrates to a constant feeling of rupture, as if an ultimate breath would carry every measure. The very personal attitude of each of the artists doesn’t hinder for a moment the majestic entity that we hear. The public gasps, paralysed, mouths open, eyes riveted. Intoxicated by a music which isn’t self-evident. But works.” Bruno Pfeiffer, Libération
The present concert will be preceded by a recording session at BMC Studio for the group's debut album, to be released on BMC Records in 2018.
