How do letters become words, words become sentences? How do letters transform into sounds, words into musical motifs, the sentences into musical phrase? Anyone who comes to the composer’ recital by Balázs Horváth, you will receive some answers to these questions.
Almost twenty years passed between composing the oldest songs (on poems by Lajos Parti Nagy) of this programme and the most recent song (on poems by András Petőcz). They were composed in 2002 and 2021. On the halfway (2013) the piece on text by György Ligeti was composed, so one can also trace how Horváth's perception of the relationship between music and text has changed.
In addition to vocal works, you will hear instrumental solo pieces that tell imaginary stories themselves, or break down a non-existent text into letters (sounds), words (motifs).
