New Zealand-born guitarist Matthew Mitchell has performed in about fifty countries with some of the world’s best jazz and contemporary musicians, including Byron Wallen, William Parker and Hamid Drake. He has recorded and performed in such diverse genres as Indian classical music, psychedelic rock or Hungarian folk music. In 2014 he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, a life changing event that has not been able to influence his passion for making music. His new CD, made with the jazz formation Quadraphilia, will be released on 3rd of August, 2016. The album is vigorously influenced by his experience in overcoming adversity.

Quadraphilia, one of Hungary’s most unique ensembles, takes their listeners to a musical voyage without borders. The guitarist's compositions, while paying tribute to modern classical music, are infused with infectious grooves and are coloured by the free jazz tradition and world music, creating a sound infrastructure where each element is integral to the whole.
