Talks and mini-concert

Benoît Sitzia will highlight his musical vision and talk about his composition process – especially what impressions the works of Peter Eötvös made on his technique. The audience can also enjoy live music and some recordings of the French composer, who is coming to Budapest following the personal invitation of Gregory Vajda.

Peter Eötvös (1944-2024) was one of the best-known interpreters of 20-21st century music. His music is frequently featured in the programs of orchestras, contemporary music ensembles and festivals worldwide, and as composer and conductor he has led projects focusing on his work in cities across the globe. Eötvös attached great importance to passing on his extensive knowledge and experience to others. Until 2023 he was the initiator and leader of all the masterclasses held the Peter Eötvös Contemporary Music Foundation.

Benoît Sitzia (1990-) following studies of classical guitar and organ turned to musicology and composition. He was awarded numerous distinctions throughout his studies of analysis and music history/aesthetics, as well as a C.O.P (a vocational degree) in composition. His works have been performed by numerous ensembles in France and abroad, including Ensemble Intercontemporain, Rayuela, Trio Antara, Maîtrise de Radio France, and others. He is the president and co-founder of the Collège Contemporain, named General Director of the Ars Nova Ensemble, and Classical Music Director of the Imperial Annecy Festival in Haute-Savoie.
