Puglia Sounds│Pasquale Stafano & Gianni Iorio “Nocturno” (I)

21:00
Opus Jazz Club
Featuring:
  • Pasquale Stafano - piano
  • Gianni Iorio - bandoneon

This project emerged from the desire of Apulian pianist Pasquale Stafano and bandoneonist Gianni Iorio to offer a concert program compiled of own compositions and pieces of other composers, inspired mainly by the seductive language of South American music and Italian melody. Nocturno is a journey into the music, a conversation of a bandoneon and a piano, a love song, emotions with great interplay and improvisations which make each concert of the duo different and new. One of the priorities for us is to perform the compositions in a pure chamber style where the arrangements play an important role to improve the ‘contrappunto’ and the structures of the compositions are recognizable elements from the classical European tradition.

Nocturno, the duo's latest album was released in May 2016 on the prestigious German label ENJA Records by Matthias Winckelmann.

The duo of Pasquale and Gianni plays concerts all around the world, appearing on classical and jazz festivals, clubs and theatres in Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, Lituania, Croatia, Morocco, Kuwait, Bahrein, Arab United Emirates, Taiwan, China, in South Korea, Japan. The two musicians collaborated also with international artists like Fabrizio Bosso, Gabriele Mirabassi, Javier Girotto, Gustavo Toker, Michele Rabbia, Luis Bacalov, Horacio Ferrer, Michele Placido, Kihwa Lee, to name a few.
