Mother and son, Edit Klukon and Fülöp Ránki, will be the soloists of the Budapest Strings, performing J. S. Bach’s harpsichord concertos. These works are based on Bach’s earlier concertos, likely crafted as showpieces for his talented students, including his sons Wilhelm Friedemann and Carl Philipp Emanuel. Michael Haydn, renowned for sacred music, is often overshadowed by his famous brother Joseph Haydn. Respected and influential, Michael served in Salzburg from 1762 and greatly influenced the young Mozart. His unique secular works show no signs of being affected by his brother’s fame.
