The name of the band gives a clue: the primary goal of Trio à la Kodály is to present new reflections on Kodály's works, which, from a 21st century perspective, draw attention to the inexhaustibly rich world of Hungarian music, especially folk music. The three musicians also indulge in collective improvisation, which is intended to emphasize that the works used as a starting point and the new compositions by the band should be interpreted first and foremost as a live musical process. The compositions on Kodály's themes also pay tribute to his work and musical spirit. The title of the orchestra's 2017 album – Hommage – indicates this intention; the concert will feature songs from this album.
