Mowgli, the character of The Jungle Book fits very well with the intentions of this French trio: to experiment outside the codes of jazz by creating an original sound world. Just as Kipling's hero discovers a life on the fringes of human society and flourishes with new companions, Mowgli ventures where you least expect him.

Ferdinand Doumerc, saxophonist of the band Pulcinella (with three albums on BMC Records under their belt) joined forces with drummer Pierre Pollet and keyboardist Bastien Andrieu. Together, they seek a path mixing the organic and the electric, the pulsating and the sharp, the innocent and the wild. Thus Mowgli was born, a group proud of its rough and unconventional side. Their first steps lead to a self-produced record (Ivre de la Jungle, 2015), and now with the support of the OcciJazz network, a new creation is born: Gueule de Boa – to be released on BMC Records in February 2023.

Gueule de Boa serves as a reminder that electro-jazz remains a still flourishing playground. This current turned the course of jazz upside down in the early 2000s by infusing it with the energy of machines. Mowgli's music is part of this musical bubbling with a sound universe integrating all the codes of today: power, nervousness, saturation. With musicians keen on improvisation, the group also places itself in an avant-garde approach to exploration. Catchy and intoxicating riffs are mixed with experimental tracks that enrich the explosive side of the interaction between the three musicians. Their rhythm work is also complex, with asymmetrical turns creating a perfectly mastered groove. The pulsation occupies a dominating place, being the keystone of the most danceable pieces. And when we are not dancing, we escape, venturing into dense and abundant music.

Tickets are available for 2500 HUF on the spot, online at bmc.jegy.hu, and at InterTicket Jegypont partners across Hungary.
