Festival Academy Budapest | Masterclass by György Kurtág with Kelemen Quartet
Béla Bartók: String Quartet No. 2
György Kurtág's chamber music masterclasses are legendary. Participants consider them among the most defining musical experiences of their lives. The Budapest Festival Academy's program is particularly special because public opportunities to observe Kurtág teaching are rare, usually held at the BMC. The Kelemen Quartet regularly hosts these masterclasses, totaling 46 hours of shared work and filming, culminating in recordings of Bartók's String Quartets Nos. 3, 4, and 6 for Alpha Records. In July, audiences can witness this intimate workshop as Kurtág and the quartet delve into Bartók's String Quartet No. 2, offering insights into the artists' deep understanding and interpretation of the piece. The masterclass is conducted in Hungarian with English interpretation.
