In March 2024, Péter Eötvös, one of the most significant composer, conductor and teacher figures of our time, passed away. His activities were closely tied to the Budapest Music Center, from recording his works to establishing a foundation mentoring young artists in contemporary music. In July, artists from the Budapest Festival Academy pay tribute to Eötvös in the Concert Hall. The concert features iconic contemporary works that define our era and pave the way for future generations of composers. Alongside Eötvös's compositions, pieces by Bartók and Kurtág, giants of 20th-21st century Hungarian music, Schönberg, a leader of German modernism, and Schnittke, who carries on traditions with a unique twist, will also be performed.
